Oakfield helps to train future doctors

For 4 years Oakfield have been helping to train medical students from the University of Liverpool. Over 1500 future doctors have been learning about learning disability by speaking to members of the Oakfield group. Students and doctors said how much they enjoyed the sessions and how much the students had learned. Oakfield has its own group of glass jewellery makers. The glass pendants are designed and made by members of the group the glass fused in a kiln to make the various designs.     Eileen and Dani worked on these screen prints showing famous buildings in Liverpool while doing a project at the TATE, Liverpool. Going solo with independent travel training

Stephen and Joe are two of the people at Oakfield who have received travel training by our qualified support staff. Stephen learnt to travel on his own from home to Oakfield just two mornings a week and gradually with practise was able to travel to Oakfield and home again on the 3 days a week that he attends. Stephen has now moved into his own flat where he is more independent and travels on his own. He is very proud of his achievements and is much more confident. Joe was very keen to use public transport on his own and quickly learnt how to get from home to Oakfield and back again. Wanting to be more independent he now travels to college on the bus with his friends and is enjoying the vocational training on...
